Directions
From
Dublin to Quality Inn Hotel in Clarinbridge (approx. 3 - 3.5 hour drive):
From
Dublin take the main Galway road - which is the N4 west until Kinnegad
and then the N6 west.
About 6 miles past village of Craughwell (last village before Galway City)
look for signpost (on left) for Clarinbridge.
Take left turn and follow country road for about 5 miles until you hit
a T-junction (main Limerick/Galway road or N18).
Take left turn and keep an eye out for entrance for Quality Inn on left-hand-side.
From Dublin to Cloghan Castle/St. Teresa's Church:
From Dublin take
the main Galway road - which is the N4 west until Kinnegad and then the
N6 west.
When you hit Loughrea look for signpost (on left) to Gort (N66) (at far
end of Loughrea town).
Take left turn and then a quick right onto N66 to Gort.
Follow road for about 7 miles (passing through village of Kilcreest) until
you see Cloghan Castle on left.
About 1 mile further on is village of Castledaly where St. Teresa's Church
is located on right hand side.
From Clarinbridge (Hotel) to Cloghan Castle/St. Teresa's
Church:
Take
left turn out of Hotel gates and head towards village of Clarinbridge
(you are on the main Limerick/Galway road or N18 heading south towards
Limerick).
Follow road through villages of Clarinbridge, and then Kilcolgan until
you hit village of Ardrahan (about 5 mile trip).
Take left turn in middle of Ardrahan village (should be signposted for
Castledaly, Craughwell, Loughrae). You are going to Castleday.
Follow twisty country road for about 7 miles until you come to T-junction
in Castledaly.
Note: follow signposts on this road as there are a number of turns.
Tip: go straight
through only crossroads junction.
Once you hit the
T-junction in Castledaly (main Loughrae/Gort road or N66) take right turn
(in direction of Gort)
A couple of hundred yards down this road on right-hand-side is St. Teresa's
Church.
Alternative and easier but longer route is:
Stay on main Limerick/Galway road (N18) through village
Ardrahan until you hit town of Gort.
In Gort look for signpost pointing to left for Loughrae (N66).
About 7 miles out this road you will hit village of Castledaly and St.
Teresa's Church on left-hand-side.
About a mile further on is Cloghan Castle on right-hand-side.
